O65’s go top of the league

3 - 0

OC's over 65's took on Birmingham Celtic their nearest title challengers at Pack Lane Coleshill on Wednesday 10th December. Both teams were level on points but Celtic had a game in hand and a superior goal difference. OC's started the game well dominating posession and passing the ball really well and creating several openings and coming close on several occasions. The first goal came courtesy of Steve Rushbury who received the ball with his back to goal, rolled his defender and fired in over the keeper 1 - 0. The second goal came from a Rushbury assist laying the ball back in to the path of skipper Tim Hadfield who rifled in hard to the bottom left hand corner to rubber stamp our first half dominance.

The second half started well as once again Steve Rushbury with an excellent roll back set up Keith 'The Hood' Howard to really kill the game off at 3-0. Birmingham Celtic had some good possession as we conceded ground and stopped doing the simple things well however, we still looked likely to score every time we ventured forward and saw out the game for a 3-0 win.

We now sit top of the league going in to Christmas two points clear of Alvechurch in second on 19 pointsand three points clear of Birmingham Celtic who have a game in hand on 18 points.
