Fourth Straight Loss for The 65's

1 - 3

The 65's suffered their third straight loss in the South Staffs Midweek Walking Football League today against a younger and more athletic Chasetown side.

We were second best for most of the first half but went ahead against the run of play when we were awarded a penalty for the fourth non walking offence, Keith Randall slotted the spot kick away to add to the one he scored in Friday's tournament at Rushall. We didn't maintain our lead for long as Chasetown scored two quick goals and then a third just before half time to go in to the break 3-1 down. In all honesty it could have been more but for some good stops from Ross Griffith between the sticks.

We made a change at half time and it was good to see Gee Lecointe making a return to the team and this seemed to give us a bit more control in midfield. We had a chance to close the gap when we were awarded a second spot kick for a further four non walking offences. On this occasion the keeper got down well to his left to smother Keith Randalls shot so the score remained. 3-1. We did play better in the second half and created some chances one long range effort from Tim Hadfield sailing just past the post. But in all honesty Chasetown had our measure today and ran out worthy winners.

Hopefully pictures from today will follow later.
