Both Clarets and Golds lose cup ties by the odd goal
0-1 and 1-2

Clarets 0 Coleshill Strollers 1
Clarets started the game pretty well and had some good periods of possession, although less so in the last third. Out of possession we sometimes lost shape and found Coleshill overloading us in wide positions. From one of these occasions, one of their players struck a good shot which hit the post and then unluckily cannoned off Ross and into the net. In the second half we were more incisive and had more shots than Coleshill. Unfortunately, several were off-target and others were well saved by the keeper who pulled off some good saves and we were unable to get what I think would have been a deserved draw to take it to extra-time. Looking forward to the remaining league fixture against them though!
Golds 1 Birmingham Blues 2
Golds slipped to a narrow cup defeat at the hands of Birmingham Blues in wintery conditions at Dales Lane. We went in at half time 1-0 fup rom an Alan Hewitt goal following a short free kick. Blues had been reduce to 6 men following a blue card. The second half followed much the same pattern as the first half with us playing good football and looking defensively resolute until we gave the ball away in midfield, not once but twice in the same area both errors leading to goals. To be fair we never looked like scoring after this latest setback which in fairness epitomised our season.
