65's lose by the odd goal to Burntwood
2 - 3

The 65's were lining up against local rivals Burntwood today who looked to be fielding their strongest team. Rivalries were on show early on when Phil (Chopper) Metcalf launched in to a robust tackle in the middle of the park which left the Burntwood player hobbling. From there Burntwood domintaed possesion but being kept to long range shots by a well organised defensive unit. We took the lead after a brilliant through ball by Keith (The Hood) Howard to Steve (Judith) Rushbury who neatly finished beyond their keeper. We had the chance to go 2-0 up when Burntwood recieved their fourth running violation rewarding us with a penalty. Skipper Keith (Judith 2) Randall fluffed his lines hitting the outside of the post so it remained 1-0 at the break.
The second half followed much the same pattern as the first with Burntwood having most of the possesion but not realing troubling our keeper Ross (2 butties) Griffith with wayward shooting from outside the box and excellent blocking by our defense. Unfortunately our defense was breached when a penalty was awarded for our fourth running offence from which they duly scored. Then a deflected shot squirmed in to the back of the net to make it 2-1, it wasn't long before a neat turn by their centre forward resulted in a strike on goal and their third game, this was the only time he managed this feat all game. Burntwood were penalised for four more running offences gifting us a way back in to the game, which Steve (Judith) Rushbury neatly put away for his second goal of the game. We nearly mader it 3-3 in the dieing embers of the game when Phil (Chopper) Metcalf saw a rocket of a shot tipped arounf the post for a corner. The game ended shortly afterwards. Once again the 65's played well against another team from last seasons Premier league but narrowly lost by the odd goal.
